Building a website is easy but getting traffic to it might be tricky. At this article, I will show the best methods to get traffic on a website and explain the differences between paid and organic traffic.

There are two types of traffic: Paid and Organic.

Paid Traffic:

This type means you pay to search engines like Google or Social Media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to get traffic to your website. It is easy to use this type and fast to get people accessing your website but will require big revenue.

You need to create an advertisement which is simple to do in Google and other Social Media platforms. Customize it to fit your audience gender, age, and location then you pay for this ad and wait for the approval which is normally fast if it is complying with their policies. Every time people click on your AD, Google or Facebook will deduct from what you paid until it is finished, and they will provide you with statistics on the advertisement in case you need to adjust your audience setting and get clear view of the market and that is what called Pay Per Click (PPC).

Organic Traffic:

When you search on the internet for a subject or look for an answer, search engines through their algorithms check thousands of websites to provide you with the best answers which normally are presented based on the best match to you.

The conversion rate here is high because people are searching for solutions and answers you provided and there is big possibility for them to follow your guidance and click on your links.

Below I will describe FOUR common methods which will get you organic traffic for FREE and help search engines to better rank your website:

1- Create High Value Content:

I started with this because quality content is the base for your website. Create posts regularly and the more you provide solutions and answers for problems the better chances to get more traffic to your website.

Allow comments to your posts to get more interactions with your readers and try to include photos, graphs, and videos to your posts because they can attract the readers but always keep attention to their size because they will affect the page speed. You can use Placeit or Canva for FREE and they have lot of options for different types of posts.

Also, put internal links to other posts in your website to keep your audience the longest at your website so search engines can give more credibility to your website.

2- Target Long-Tail Keywords:

While creating your content, you need to target low competitive long-tail keywords which are a combination of three or four words through keyword tools like Jaaxy or ahrefs. For example, if I want to write about “affiliate marketing”, below are some of the results I got to compare:

Avg: The average searches that the keyword received per month.

Traffic: Visits to your website if you achieve first page ranking in the search engines.

QSR (Quoted Search Results): The number of competing websites ranked in Google for this exact keyword. And here I recommend targeting keywords with QSR less than 50 because more than that the competition will be high and you will get less chances to be found at the search engines first pages.

3- Social Media:

Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Twitter became part of our life and it is smart to benefit from them instead to only watch their content.

You can focus on two or three platforms only and create content regularly. Do not repeat the same post in different locations, try to be creative and attract the users and guide them to your website.

It is very helpful to use the hashtags (#) because they will show your posts to others who are not necessary following you.

Also, make sure to join groups who share same interests and check the topics they are posting and the number of people interacting with them so you can get information about current problems and trends so you can write about them in your articles.

Try to follow celebrities and famous people in your niche and check the type of posts they are putting and the hashtags so you can use what is relevant to you.

My advice on Social Media is DO NOT spam people with your links and advertisements because that will make them block your account and will make use lose your credibility. 

4- Improve On-Page SEO:

SEO means Search Engine Optimization and improving it will get search engines rank your website higher. That can be done by including HTML tags and headlines, optimize meta description and ensure your photos and videos support the content and their size do not affect the page speed.

Driving traffic to your website is very important. It is not an easy task, and it needs lot of time and patience. It can be done through paid traffic which is fast but requires money or organic traffic which needs more work as described earlier but can be done for FREE.
